Not Learning from Pain

Pain, pain, pain – why so much in vain?
Why am I not learning from the pain
Even if I know how much I am to gain
Only if I could sit with the pain that remain
One would expect to have mastered the pain
Because of the many rounds worse than migraine
But instead of learning it grows in disdain
And the tolerance is low almost to complain
Facing the pain has been the hardest – simple and plain
Especially not trying to fix it, ignore it or bargain
Constantly avoiding it does not stop the energy drain
Nor is the escapist behavior a good thing to sustain
Imagining that I can feel as if singing in the rain
Or even better acknowledging the role of the brain
Helps only to the extent of being relatively sane
But the pulsing, throbbing, aching hits me again and again…
When will I really learn from the pain? …
